Anger spews across our nation like a broken water pipe. One woman told me, “I am staying in my house and off the internet. The constant anger is making me sad and depressed.”

While some people feel betrayed by the recent ruling, others are elated.

For many of us, this is personal.

The American Psychological Association defines anger as “a natural, adaptive response to threats; it inspires powerful, often aggressive, feelings and behaviors, which allow us to fight and defend ourselves when we are attacked.” Sadly, many view this landmark decision as a personal attack.

Emotions, whether good or bad, cannot be the lead dog in our lives. What must drive us is a love relationship with Christ and a steadfast hope in the truths of His Word. For those of us who claim to be followers of Christ, the importance of loving “Out Loud” supersedes other priorities. Rejoice in the win, but quickly move into compassionate care for those in need, emotionally or otherwise. This is “The Golden Rule.”

We are not going to convince everyone to believe as we do, but we can show them that our beliefs are backed up with tangible, compassionate care. For that reason, they will be moved, and they may listen. Our She Loves Out Loud partner, One More Child, is an example of how simple it is to become powerfully involved in changing a life or a family.  From anti-trafficking to support for single moms, foster care and adoption resources, to parental, financial and career training, and Compassion Centers for feeding and clothing, and so much more—their ministry programs are being replicated successfully around the globe. There is a place for everyone and anyone to love and be loved. Engage in one of their ministry programs near you!

You do not have to agree with the worldview of people to love them or pray for them. In fact, more and more, I am finding myself with people I disagree with concerning Biblical principles. But what comes out of me in those moments of interaction both defines who I am and the influence I can have as a spiritual example.

Jesus taught, “Whoever believes in me, as Scripture has said, rivers of living water will flow from within them.” John 7:38

I encourage you today to pray that the Lord will fill you to overflowing by the power of the Holy Spirit to share living words, those that can heal a heart and give hope to a soul.

“God invites us to influence our community, our nation, and the world – to literally direct history while we’re on our knees.”  Brother Andrew
