In a contrary culture, we can look to the words of Jesus to find a sure discernment of absolute truth.   From my SLOL friend, Kelli Flores, “Seeking truth has rarely been more important than it is right now, in this moment.  We are living under a continual onslaught of information as we attempt to discern what is true from what is not.  This is more challenging today than ever. “

So just how do we find the wisdom we need to discern?  In the words of Jesus, of course.

JOHN 8:12  When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world.

Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.”

Step One:  Follow Me.  Small in words.  Big in result. Light instead of darkness.

JOHN 8:31-32  To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you                are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.”

Step Two:  Hold to my teaching.   So clear.  No opinions.  No preferred personality.

Sure Result:  Then…you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.

There are many issues I want to understand, but at the very top of my list are the foundations of the She Loves Out Loud prayer movement.

  • Anti-human trafficking and efforts to rescue children
  • Foster and Adoption
  • Pro-Life
  • The right for our children to pray in schools
  • Religious freedom
  • Mental Health support and awareness
  • Support of marriage and traditional families

We all want to know the truth of what is being presented and voted on; what is being promised and what has been done as recorded in the annals of history.  I made the decision to put away TV and internet interpretation and even the opinion of good friends.  Instead, I went directly to the source of the www.congress.gov ; www.sentate.gov; and www.whitehouse.gov and typed each of these topics in the search bars.  There I found amazing things like 40% of our U.S. senators voted “no” on the Born Alive Abortion Survivors Protection Act that requires doctors to keep babies alive who were born during an attempted abortion.  I could not believe we needed to even make a law on such a thing as I read through the names of each “yea” and “nay”. This is about more than abortion; it’s about dignity for every life.  How far can we fall?  There are many other important topics we value, but you must discover this for yourself

As you pray, ask God “What do you want me to base my vote on?” and pray that He will lead you to finding truth on these issues.

Our prayer for discernment during the week of October 11th begins with this devotional from SLOL team member Stefanie Schindler:

Daily communion with God through prayer and the reading of His Word is absolutely crucial in this season. There are days when I scroll through too much social media or read too many news articles, and I can feel myself get pulled out of alignment with what God has been speaking to me about concerning our nation. However, when I choose to tune everything else out and genuinely seek His face, He speaks clearly. It’s in those moments that I can feel peace flood back into my soul, and adjustment of my heart into an aligned place with Him and His Truth. Friends, we must abide here in this place even if it means releasing all other sources of information. It’s through Him and Him alone we will gain true understanding of what we are seeing unfold before our eyes.

Let us pray for wisdom to discern.  As believing sisters in Christ, let us be thoughtful and purposeful as we bend our knees and present ourselves to the Lord, open and honest, humbly and in personal repentance, open always to a leading of the Holy Spirit in our daily words and lives.

We are continuing to grow as we Gather the women to pray through our Facebook pages.  Please help us by inviting friends to our Facebook Live prayer groups and to like our page

And, of course, Keep Expecting Amazing,
