I have friends who laughingly admit, “I have FOMO.”
The Fear Of Missing Out shows up in their daily schedules as they run from meeting to meeting, event to event, checking social media, texts, and emails incessantly, and looking to know and be known. They are wonderful women, but I watch their days robbed of peace because of this driving force.
The funny thing is that we come up with all these amazing goals and dreams, work so very hard to achieve them, and still miss that God wanted to do something that is beyond what we could have imagined.
During these Christmas weeks, I have been asking you to join me in having a “Mary Christmas” by exchanging running to and fro for this one truth:
“No word from God will ever fail.” (Luke 1:37)
Will you join me this season in seeking the most exciting days of a woman’s life?
As you pray today,
- Praise Him for His unconditional love
- For the grace that overcomes all pain and mistakes
- Release your heart in a full abandonment to His way and will.
- Relinquish the need to be favored by man.
- Stop counting on what you can do or own, who you can know or be known by.
- Believe no word from God will ever fail.
- Proclaim the heralded legacy testimony of Mary as your own:
“I am the Lord’s servant. May your word to me be fulfilled.” (Lk 1:38)
True, lasting excitement happens in the “secret place” where God waits for you to release all disappointments, maybes, anxiety, and feelings of insecurity into His heart and hands. What will the New Year bring? No idea! But He is God Almighty so it will definitely be amazing.
